No sadness, no sorrow, no trouble....

Episode #22 sends former detective Robert Gibson back to the gas station, what he finds ain't pretty... this is the fourth part of a series that started with Episode #16 Special Occasion, and continued with parts two and three last month.

Here's a preview to get you going:

Rob felt the pain in his knuckles.  He rubbed his hands together hoping the heat would help, but the storm was coming fast.  Rob lit a cigarette successfully despite the wind and  paused to smoke and think.  Rob assumed the clerk was dead, but he was then overcome with the sense that the boy had not yet reached a point of redemption from whatever depths he had fallen to.  He was working a shit job, and he was trying to make the best with what he had.  He was taking advantage of the chance if that’s what it was.  Rob felt wrong for doubting the clerk.  What he said about the wolves was true enough.  The boy understood evil, maybe because he had been a close party to it recently.  He hadn’t understood enough to avoid it entirely, or else he still underestimated how it could turn on him, being the way young men are.  Now he was dead, or running through the woods with a bullet in him.  He was a true innocent in this case, and Rob had failed him by not seeing the shape of it sooner.

Sneak a peek!

Episode #13 Mister Carlson Gets Deported on Cheap Fun! The Short Story Podcast up this Sunday September 1st.  You won't hear from me again until I'm a married man...

Here's a sneaky peek at the story:
Mr. Carlson was infuriated.  He had more than proven his worth to this country. He had been President and Chief Executive Officer of the Common Bankshares, Inc. since ‘73, and chairman of the board since 1988, among other titles.  Surely this was not the resume of a criminal.  Yes, he had his car impounded in New Hampshire a few years ago after he was found asleep on the side of the road, but there was never anything proven.  Sure he had totaled the Mercedes one summer evening in a rainstorm when he and Millie slid down an embankment into a gushing stream, but Millie had drank more than he and it was the fourth of July, they were entitled!

GLOOM AND DOOM

Episode #10 of the Cheap Fun! Short Story Podcast is now up, so grab a High Life and get ready to talk conspiracy theories.... man.

Here's an excerpt for you kiddies:

Before the crowd that had gathered outside Mr. Sullivan’s house lay not the plump body of a sixty eight year old man in repose, starring up at a benevolent afternoon sky from the comfort of his thick blue grass, the way maybe a man his age should have gone and in fact prepares in such ways to go.  Rather they saw the small fly stuck piles of red mush that had all but lost its humanity with the exception of a pair of legs in velour lounge pants splayed in the grass.  Mr. Sullivan’s knobby old man knees.  Mr. Sullivan’s dry bare feet. The newspaper in its blood spattered plastic bag.

TWITS ABOUND!

I'm now on the twitter, doing the tweets.
I guess I'm trying to interact with the world.
In a detached, passive aggressive way.
I am my father's son after all.

That just got too real.

Anyway, check out the podcast too.

There is ice cream in your future

Happy stories for everybody!  Check out this months episode of CHEAP FUN, the short story podcast.
There's ice cream...

Here's a quote to get you pumped:

"... he might have floated all the way down to New Orleans before drowning.  Whole new varieties of pain entered his mind.  Sharks in the Gulf.  Assholes on jet skis.  Fire spewing over water.  Tar and feathers.  Crabs picking at the bones."

Some light-hearted listening for a fine day.

Also, if you want to check out some old episodes, please be my guest.

It's raining men... and fire and brimstone.

My last short story podcast before the end of the world, it better be a good one.
No, there is ten minutes of me listening to / commenting on tornado sirens.
Yes I am that provocative.

BUGLE BOYS

I am almost done with my first comic book, though the design and layout process may take a while.  I am learning indesign so I can do my own print layouts and stuff and boy oh boy am I having fun.  If you haven't had the opportunity to watch hours of instructional videos taught by a man who rolls his r's for some reason, then you haven't lived.

New podcast episode next week.  I will be reading "The Shirtless Man" which is an oldy but goody.  I have been writing new stories involving drones, men falling out of trees, and dad's smoking weed...  none of which are quite ready for prime time, as they say in the biz.

In the mean time, I made a couple of logos for THE BUGLE logo competition.  If you don't listen to THE BUGLE then you are truly missing out on some vomit inducing pun runs.  Here is the finished version of John and Andy's transformation into old timey newsboys.

Hail to the BLEEP BLOOP BLEEP!

A new podcast episode for your listening pleasure...
or your listening torture.

Due to some technical issues and some people getting married and making me drink excessively I will not be able to do the Holiday Sale that I planned for November 24th.  Just don't have the time to finish everything by then.  But, don't fret, FURBIES are back!  So spend your money on that.
